The Lady Panthers kicked off the 2009-2010 home season with a 55-49 win over Mt. Olive College Thursday night at Barco-Stevens Hall.
Tonaye Smith led the way for VUU with a team high 22 points.
VUU (1-1) will hit the road where they will open up conference play with St. Augustine College on Monday, November 23rd. Game time is scheduled for 5:30pm.

The Lady Panthers opened the 2009-2010 campaign against Shaw University. Senior Tonaye Smith finished with a team high of 19 points and seven rebounds. While fellow teammate Tiffany Clarke added ten points in a 70-55 loss to the Lady Bears.
Union won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding Shaw 46 to 40. Freshmen Ashlynn Massey pulled down nine rebounds to go along with nine points. Yuvonna Stevens and Gabrielle Easley accounted for eight rebounds each but turnovers plagued Union, committing 18.
The Lady Panthers will open their home season on 11/19 against Mt. Olive College game time is set for 6:00pm.

Sophomore Kara Scott was the only Lady Panther to finish in double figures with 13 points and five rebounds.
Tiffany Clarke and Gabrielle Easley finish with four points.
The Lady Panthers will open up their season on the road against Shaw University on Monday November 16th.
