VUU’s Davis Takes Two Events at VSU Mid-Week Challenge

ETTRICK, VA – VUU’s Marquis Davis won both the men’s shot put and discus events at the Virginia State University Mid-Week Challenge on Wednesday afternoon. He tossed the shot put 43 feet 6.5 inches and threw the discus 131 feet 6 inches.
Melvin Edison won the 110 meter hurdles turning in a time of 14.64 seconds.
Geoffrey Langat took first place in the 5,000 meter run recording a time of 16:05.83; in addition, he finished third in the 1,500 meter run posting a time of 4:20.12. Ernest Robinson also placed in multiple events for the Panthers, finishing fourth in the shot put (38 feet 3.5 inches) and third in the high jump (6 feet 0 inches).
The highest place finisher on the women’s team was Kristan Clay. Clay earned a fifth place finish in the discus, with a throw of 90 feet 2 inches.
The VUU men’s track team finished fourth overall at this event, collecting 70.5 points.
The VUU women’s track team finished sixth overall at this event, collecting 17 points.
